Bafana Bafana Defender Heading For Scottish Team
Bafana Bafana international and Ajax Cape Town defender, Rivaldo Coetzee, is being linked with a move to a historic European giant. It was revealed on the Soccer Laduma website earlier this week that Mamelodi Sundowns could look to pull the plug on their interest in trying to land the 20-year-old Bafana international, after Siya sources indicated that Sundowns and the Urban Warriors were unable to reach a mutual agreement.
Sundowns have been keen on the player for over a year now, however indications are that the Urban Warriors would rather sell their star player abroad, instead of transferring him in Mzansi.
As previously reported, following the reports that Sundowns were in talks with Ajax for Coetzee, club chairman Ari Efstathiou confirmed to Soccer Laduma that he was in talks with clubs in Europe about a possible move.
Siya sources have now confirmed that Scottish-giants, Celtic FC, have shown an interest in the player and are monitoring his situation closely. While it is yet to be confirmed if Celtic have made an official approach to Ajax, Siya sources have indicated that the Scottish side have made their interest known.
It now remains to be seen whether a move away from Ikamva will materialise in the coming weeks and with Coetzee’s contract set to run for two more years, indications are that Ajax will look to cash in on a pretty sum of money for the player’s services.
